About the Filmmakers

Paul Maher Jr. (Director, Writer & Producer) is an author, book critic, photographer and filmmaker best known for his published books about Jack Kerouac. He is the author of the critically-acclaimed Kerouac: His Life and Work (2007) and editor of books of such varied cultural figures as Miles Davis, Tom Waits and Jack Kerouac. Maher has also edited and annotated two volumes of Henry David Thoreau’s unpublished Extracts Related to the Indians I and II notebooks. Maher has also filmed and directed two short films: Oceania (2016) & Startled Mirror (2016).

Caitlin Stuart (Co-Director, Writer & Producer) is an author, filmmaker and visual artist. She has directed two short films: All the Beautiful Things in the World (2014); and Amore (2016). She is the co-writer (with Paul Maher Jr.) of Love That Loves Us (2015), a book of creative essays on the films of Terrence Malick.

Brenton Oechsle (Director of Photography) is an American cinematographer and award-winning filmmaker. Drawing from his own theological background – his work focuses on the fateful link humanity maintains between faith and doubt. His 2016 short film Undertaker won the award for Best Hoosier Lens Short at the Indy Film Fest. Throughout his work – he desires to convey hope through the similarities of human experience – using narrative as a mirror to the soul of the viewer.

Terrence Malick (Executive Producer) is the critically acclaimed and Oscar-nominated writer and director of Badlands, Days of Heaven, The Thin Red Line, The New World, The Tree of Life, To The Wonder, Knight of Cups, Song to Song, Voyage of Time and the upcoming World War II drama, Radegund.
